What is Lavazza's darkest, richest espresso blend in a Lavazza Espresso Point cartridge? (top) Our darkest, heartiest Lavazza Espresso Point blend is the Aroma Club 100% Arabica. It is a full-bodied espresso, which is more acidic due to the oil present in Arabica beans. This espresso is the perfect choice for espresso lovers who enjoy a more European style of espresso.
What is crema? (top) Crema is the light golden brown foam that sits on top of a well-made espresso. Espresso lovers consider it the "soul" of the brew. During brewing, the oil is extracted from the espresso. The oil, in conjunction with the steam forms a fine layer on the top of the espresso. Crema traps the fine aromatics and the light gaseous flavors that register on the palate. It also keeps the flavors that would otherwise escape, locked in.
Does Lavazza espresso have more caffeine than regular coffee? (top)NO! The full rich taste of Espresso is often mistaken for high caffeine content. Caffeine is water-soluble. Therefore, the caffeine content in the cup is determined by the length of time the coffee grinds are in contact with the water. Since Espresso only takes 30 seconds to brew and a 12-cup pot of American coffeee takes up to 10 minutes, oz per oz, espresso has about 1/2 the caffeine of American coffee.
What is an Espresso? (top)
It is a small cup of around 40 ml of strong, fullbodied coffee, sweet and velvety, with an intoxicating aroma reminiscent of fruit, almonds, cocoa and flowers such as jasmine. It is spiked with a certain bitterness accompanied by a pleasant acidity that reinforces the aroma. The foam on top, called the "crema," reinforces the smoothness of the coffee.
Why is espresso bitter? (top) Espresso when prepared properly is a full-bodied, rich, sweet and aromatic beverage. Bitter tastes occur when all the preparation steps have not been followed and when over-roasted coffees are used (i.e. burnt, black and oily).
Should Lavazza espresso be served with a lemon rind? (top) NO! Lemon is not an authentic accompaniment for a Lavazza espresso. Typically, Espresso is served with sugar or other sweeteners and if requested, with a dollop of milk or a shot of a cordial. Espresso served with lemon is intended to mask the bitter taste of poor espresso.
What is the difference between Lavazza coffee and espresso? (top) The difference between Lavazza coffee and espresso is simply the amount of water that is diluted into the espresso bean. A short shot of espresso (corto) has the least amount of water, hence the strongest taste. Coffee, has the most water simply because the longer the brewing process, the more water runnint through the espresso beans.
How should I store my Lavazza coffee and what is the shelf life of the Lavazza Espresso Point cartridges? (top) Air and moisture are coffee enemies. Lavazza understands that espresso needs to be stored in an airtight container at room temperature. Hence, Lavazza has developed the Lavazza espresso point cartridge system and has hermetically sealed the espresso into packages, preventing air and moisture from permeating the espresso and ensuring its freshness. As long as they are kept inside their sealed packages and stored in a cool, dry place, the cartridges' shelf life should be at least one year.
